Snorpy has managed to fit every single conspiracy into one paranoid blob. |
It would be larger but I ran out of red string!! |
The Grumpinati is a hypothesized secret powerful organization that would supposedly control many aspects to the workings of modern society and aim for world domination. Their involvement in the public is conspiracy theorist Snorpy Fizzlebean's main focus of concern. As the Bugsnax' counterpart of the Illuminati[1], it is to be taken lightly alike the topic of conspiracy theories, which in real life walks a fine line between genuine concern and reactionary propaganda.
Snorpy has accused popstar Wiggle and his sibling Floofty of being involved with the Grumpinati and has put trackers on them. With Wiggle, he tries to find an explanation of why a world-famous superstar would join them on their trip, either ignoring or not being aware of her ties to Lizbert. Pop music and radio signals are two topics he considers to be part of the Grumpinati. With Floofty, he accuses them of "working for the man" in a conversation, what Floofty considers "wasting time on spy games".
Snorpy's conspiracy board[]
Snorpy's conspiracy board is a mindmap of theories and "evidence" that Snorpy assumes to all be connected and traced back to the Grumpinati.
- The center of the board shows a Bugsnax googly-eye version of the Eye of Providence[2] which is commonly used in fiction as a reference to the Illuminati, where it would be their secret symbol.
- Kwookies are shown on the board twice, with a note comparing its top view shape to a gear to fit Snorpy's mechanical theory of Bugsnax, and another comparing its flat circle shape to the Flat Earth theory[3]
- One note shows a sketch of a Cinnasnail pointing towards Chandlo. There is also something crossed out pointing towards a - either as storytelling or a game 'hint.' It is unclear what is meant by it.
- An article on GMO Chemicals; genetically modified organisms. GMO conspiracy theories[4] assume people are controlled, weakened, or killed by their food intake or modified animals they come in contact with. While Snorpy never mentions GMO, he does believe Bugsnax are designed to attract Grumps and their consumption of them, but this does not stop him from eating them. In fact, he believes it is the way to destroy them.
- The "I Want to Believe" poster[5], or rather a referential redraw thereof, popularized by The X-Files[6] is shown on the board. The nature of this poster is not so much fear as melancholic desire for something to be out there - preferably aliens. The X-Files carries this emotion as well as dealing with conspiracies surrounding the truth.
- The article of Grumpfoot, written by the Journalist and their supposed photo evidence, is shown on the board. This is not elaborated on in the game and the Journalist's cryptozoology is not brought up in interaction with Snorpy. It is possibly just there as filler.
in the works
- Radio Waves emitted from Radio Towers[7] which Snorpy connects to his theory of being tracked through his dental fillings.
With Kwookies replacing his teeth and with that his dental fillings signal he assumed to be free of the threat of psychotronic torture[8] or cavities, raising more questions in what ways Snakification alters to body.
- maybe related to the 5G theory[9]
Concern is health and mind control - Snorpy has a tin foil hat. [10]
- Mainstream Pop Music Hits - related to him thinking Wiggle is a spy [11]
- Dental fillings tracing theory
- Is Dental Amalgam Safe? article
- Lizbert and the door and she vanished
- Snaxsquatch sighting? He relates it to Floofty
- Bugsnax are robots that lure them with taste and Snorpy thinks consuming them stops it yet his theory would imply this is what Bugsnax want and he is not wrong
- Snorpy ventured closer to the door area to Sugarpine Woods, where he had strong readings on Grumpinati activity.
- More mundane topics, such as the cancellation of his favourite show "Grump Peaks"[12]
- the Chemtrail theory
- Alluminium hat
- It is implied in a post-credits scene that the Grumpinati is in fact real, and that Clumby is working for them.
- events blamed on the Grumpinati
- Their slogans include "Tu quid edas" and "Omne vivum ex Bugsnax", which are latin phrases loosely translating to "You are what you eat" and "All life is of Bugsnax" respectively.
- ”Omne vivum ex Bugsnax” could also possibly be referring to Lizbert’s statement, “Every living thing that wasn’t Bugsnax”
- "Nobody suspects a thing" references Octodad
- The person in The Triplicate Space is a part of the Grumpinati
