Debug Mode is a code toggle testing mode that can be accessed in Bugsnax. It can overwrite existing savefiles.

  • Start Bugsnax and open any save file.
  • To activate it on PC with a QWERTY keyboard, press [left shift] + [right shift] + [ + = ] + [pause/break]. It might take a few tries. For other keyboards and laptops, subtitutes for the latter buttons need to be used. Alternative buttons vary per keyboard type and can be complex combinations or buttons such as [ FN ], [+*], [ #' ], [ F12 ] along with the shift buttons. Accessing the debug mode with consoles is not possible at the moment.
  • Upon having a successful combination, the screen fades to white and sends you back at the menu screen. Open the previous savefile again and go to the options menu and select SETTINGS. It should have DEBUG as a fifth option now.

Options[]

  • Level Select opens a separate menu, out of place for the typical menus. It shows the directory Content\Levels, which includes every map, required scripts, Bugsnak, and Grumpus. The full directory is shown on the top of the menu.
  • Delete Feeding History resets all Grumps to how they were when the Journalist met them. This means Wiggle and Snorpy remain partially snakified. If one runs this command within town the game will crash.
  • Max Out Inventory fills the inventory with one of each Bugsnak, including the Legendary Bugsnax
  • Press [F4] to get the command console. For some keyboards, one needs to press [Fn] and [F4] at the same time. One can spawn any of the Grumpuses, Bugsnax and items based on the names in the levels folder of the game.
    • 'spawn filbo' spawns Filbo.
    • 'spawn filbo wambus' spawns Filbo with Wambus' hat. Upon scanning "Filbo" will register as Wambus. If Filbus is interactable it will be Filbo speaking.
    • If multiple Grumpuses are spawned, the first spawn or the original one (if present on the map) will be responding and the camera will turn to their direction.
    • 'spawn basketball 500' will spawn 500 basketballs. They will be frozen in the air, taking little surface space and are seperated vertically.
  • Press [.] to speed up time. (may require combination with [Fn])
  • Press [,] to pause ("freeze") the game. (may require combination with [Fn])
  • Press [F9] for free roam camera. This feature allows you to venture and clip through the map. Only the area from which you start to free roam will be loaded accordingly (with inhabitans and assets) and other areas will be their lowpoly version. The camera is partially 'perceived' by its surroundings, having Grumpuses lock their eyes with it (but not greet) and the areas where the Snaxsquatch spawn will have it deconstruct as it would do normally. Free roam allows spawning but you cannot interact with your environment.
  • After using the LevelSelect prompt, a list of further commands pops up in the debug settings when accessed in Snaxburg. Picking any of the major events progresses to that point of time in the game - this only works if you haven't played through the event in the selected save file yet. DebugReturn returns the Grumpuses. DebugInterviewsAndClues completes all interviews, even if a Grumpus hasn't been returned yet. DebugSidequestsAvailable makes all sidequests available, automatically returning all Grumpuses and finishing their interviews, logging you right before the Major Celebration. Events seem to be functional even while lacking key Snakifications required in the main quests or possessing Bugsnax and items from areas that haven't opened up yet.
  • Right at the very beginning, accessing Debug Mode allows you to skip to encountering Wambus for the first time and to Snaxburg, with Wambus already returned.
  • irr file from the gamefiles
  • status - unused/used
  • spawns - for example spawns CUP. CUP is spawnable. yes - CUP. If it spawns it's spawnable of course so what is the best way to go about it? If it spawns a subtitute, its interaction/scannability does not apply (dna).
  • interactable - Icon Pawprint the journalist can interact with asset, the asset is affected by conditions. CUP - yes
  • scannable - SnaxScope sticker SnaxScope can scan it - FlavorText appears y/n. - if the asset is unused and it is scannable it likely has no FlavorText. (Mention how 'scan completion' is not an achievement nor are 'new scans' listed in the Journal/anywhere on the SnaxScope page, FlavorText page and Game page.)
  • Notes - any additional info

IRR list[]

  • Content > Levels - all IRR files.
  • Content > Definitions - XML files that can be edited regarding default snakification, likes/dislikes
  • Content > Models - assets to be added to the XML or IRR

Grumpuses[]

All Grumpus irr. files are used. Eggabell has several files due to the scene development and her snakification. The expedition Team is interactable, with text dependant on what point in the game the character is spawn. Characters like Clumby, Lizbert and Eggabell are not interactable.
