SnaxScope sticker This curious Snak likes to dig things out of the sand and bring them to its lair.
GrambleHappySticker I've been calling it Crapple!

Crapple is a crab-like Bugsnak resembling a sliced red apple. It is found in Simmering Springs.

Strategy[]

Crapples are curious Bugsnax that patrol a set area. If something interests them, they will pick it up and try to carry it back to their underwater lair. For example, a Crapple may pick up a Buggy Ball covered in chocolate or peanut butter, or a full Snak Trap. This can be useful for capturing Pineantulas, as a Crapple can dig them out of the sand. They will run away if the player approaches, dropping whatever they are carrying.

Crapples are naturally aggressive to each other, and if two come into contact, one will attack the other, knocking it out and picking it up.

If a Crapple successfully brings something back home, it will throw that thing on top of the lair, and then continue walking. If it throws a Bugsnak to its lair, that Snak will be momentarily stunned, and vulnerable to capture in the Bug Net.

Crapples can be caught by placing a Snak Trap in their path.

Trivia[]

  • The file names of Crapple's voice clips refer to it as "Clawbler". "Crapple" and "Clawbler" were both strongly considered as the Bugsnak's name, and the final name was decided by its voice actor's reaction.[1]
  • Crapple is a visual pun on "crabapple".
  • Gramble's quote is a reference to a line in The Simpsons where, upon hearing the name of Bart's teacher, Ms. Krabappel, Homer says "I've been calling her Crandall!"
