Scoopy Banoopy's journal page, showing its five attributes
Attributes are qualities inherent to a specific Bugsnak species, such as its behavior, appearance, and flavor. One can view this information in the Journal, in the Bugapedia section.
The attributes listing's only function are a guide to help track down certain Bugsnax to fulfill a certain quest. Bugsnax are not always assigned attributes that they should logically have assigned to them.
List of attributes[]
Aggressive Bugsnax are usually able to attack the player as well as the Snak Trap, and typically must be stunned before being possible to capture. Their attacks can be used to stun other Bugsnax, making them vulnerable to capture. Chandlo asks for aggressive, meaty Bugsnax as part of his side questline. All Legendary Bugsnax have this attribute.

Breakable Bugsnax typically also have the Frosty or Spicy attribute, and when their element is neutralized, will soon split into two or more different Bugsnax. The breakable Bugsnak itself can be captured if its element is neutralized and it is stunned at the same time. Legendary Bugsnax with this attribute change form and appearance after taking enough damage. This attribute does not apply to Bugsnax such as the "full" Sandopede or Megamaki, as these are groups of individual Bugsnax working as a group.

Flying Bugsnax spend most, if not all, of their time above the ground, out of the player's reach. Some can be trapped in midair, while others must be brought to the ground to be captured.
Frosty Bugsnax typically have an icy aura that will freeze the player and other Bugsnax on contact, as well as freeze a Snak Trap to pieces. To catch them, their icy layer must be melted away by bringing them into contact with fire, lava, or warm water. All frosty Bugsnax are based on frozen desserts.

Trivia[]
- There are a few Bugsnax that seem to fit certain attributes, but are not classified under them in game.
- Aggroll and Tropicabug are based on foods that contain meat, but do not have the Meaty attribute.
- Both the Greater and the Lesser Cocomite are based on coconuts, but they both lack the Fruity attribute.
- Dr Sodie and Mt Sodie are primarily red and green, respectively, but lack the attributes of their respective colors.
- Sprinklepede is too fast to be caught in the Snak Trap while rolling, but lacks the Evasive attribute.
- Charmallow and Chillynilly do not have the Sticky attribute, though this could be because it would make their capture method more mechanically complicated.
- Sweetiefly is red and can evade traps but doesn't have the Red and Evasive attribute.
